ACYA - China Manager

The objective of the China Manager is to oversee the effective management of ACYA's Australia Chapters and operations, in line with organisational strategies and policies.

The China Manager is an elected position on the ACYA National Executive is a member of ACYA's Board of Directors. The China Manager is responsible for strategic alignment and effective coordination of ACYA's Chinese Chapters and operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee China Chapter operations in line with organisational strategies and policies including welfare;
  • Represent the ACYA National Executive to Chapter Presidents, as well as representing chapter concerns to the National President;
  • Recruit, lead, and develop a team of China Secretaries to support the portfolio;
  • Develop the capabilities and resources of Chinese chapters by providing operational feedback and partnership development support;
  • Support the delivery of China-based ACYA Tentpole events and projects such as ACELS and Game On!;
  • Act as the primary liaison between ACYA and China-based partners e.g. Australian Embassy, Austcham, Australia China Alumni Association;
  • Assist Chapters in handover processes;
  • Oversee chapter grant acquittals; and
  • Represent ACYA in public forums, when required.

Role Requirements

  • Time commitment of ~5-10 hours/week;
  • Approachable and able to provide constructive feedback;
  • Experience on the leadership committee of an ACYA Chapter;
  • Experience managing stakeholder relations and partnerships;
  • Ability to work well managing small teams;
  • Demonstrated event management experience; and
  • (Optional but preferred) Experience managing across cultures, particularly with respect to the Australia-China relationship
